Černá Studnice is one of the cradles of tobogganing in the Czech Republic. It was on the first of January 1911 that a toboggan run for tourists and competitions was created, ending in Jablonec. Back then, people would head up to Černá Studnice, have a good meal and a hot toddy, borrow a sledge and head down on it, returning it in Jablonec. When they all came together, a horse-drawn carriage was there to take them back to the top. Even today you can enjoy the atmosphere by riding down from Černá Studnice. The winter hike will reward you with a breath-taking view of the romantic, snowy landscape, before you head down the mountain on your own or a rented sledge. Here you can use a treated, four-kilometre natural toboggan run, the only one in this country, now intended for recreational rides on days out. Classic sledges or unique JK SPEED 127 sports sledges can be hired from the Černá Studnice viewing tower or at Skiareál Filip Smržovka. Head down the track, where fast sections alternate with slow ones that offer magical views of the Jizera Mountains.
