The oldest operating glassworks in the world was founded before 1712 in the Jilemnice manor, then owned by the Counts of Harrach. In the course of time the glassworks developed quite a unique collection of products made by hand in the traditional way, with blowpipes. They now produce luxury sets of beverage and utility glass and components for crystal chandeliers. During a tour of the glassworks you can see the complete production process using traditional manual technologies, including the historical cutting shop from 1895. It is almost in its original shape, fully functional, powered by gears and a water turbine. Czech, German and English-speaking guides are available. Larger groups must book a tour in advance. The glassworks include a museum of glass, a microbrewery with a restaurant from 2002 and a beer bath.
