Milling is a very old craft. Mills were built where the force of water or the wind could be harnessed. Janatuv Mill in Burany has been well preserved. It dates back to 1767 and part of the ground floor and the grinding plant are in their original condition. The Janata family bought the mill in 1797 and gradually made improvements to it. The complex now comprises the mill, stables, a barn, shed, milking house, beehive, mill flume with a reservoir for the turbine, and racks. The originally two-floor grinding plant was extended to five floors at the end of the 19th century. Today’s appearance dates back to the last reconstruction in 1913. The waterwheel was replaced with a Francis turbine, and a diesel engine allowed the electric installation to be made, which includes the predecessor of what is today known as electric heating. The milling equipment is original and functional. The mill enjoys the status of Protected Heritage of National Importance.
